Language Arts:

Writing:  The students are working on a project involving figures of speech and song lyrics.
Reading: Currently reading, The Boy Who Dared

Math 5th/6th:

The students are learning how to round whole numbers and decimals.


Math 7th/8th:

The students are learning how to use the distributive property and combine like terms.

Language Arts:

The students are doing a great job editing their persuasive essays.

In reading class, the students are learning a lot about WWII Germany, from the book,
The Boy Who Dared.



Math 5th/6th:

Fifth and Sixth grade math students have been working on a Thanksgiving dinner decimal word problem project. All of the students worked very hard to complete the projects.



Math 7th/8th:

The students have been working on solving multi-step problems with positive and negative integers.

Language Arts

The class is currently reading The Boy Who Dared by Susan Campbell Bartoletti.

Next week, in writing the students will be practicing how to write essays that compare and contrast facts and ideas.


Math 5th/6th

The students will be practicing how to write and solve word problems that involve decimals.


Math 7th/8th

Next week, the students will learn how to multiply and divide using negative and positive integers.

Language Arts:

The students completed their WANTED posters. The posters were spooktacular!!!!

Next Week the class will begin reading The Boy Who Dared by Susan Bartoletti.



Math 5-6

The students are continuing to study decimals.



Math 7-8

The students are studying rational numbers. They are learning how to add, subtract, multiply, and divide positive and negative numbers.

Language Arts:
*The students are writing descriptions of original Halloween characters and creating WANTED posters for them.

*For Red-Ribbon Week:  In reading class, the students have been reading about and discussing  the dangers of smoking and doing drugs.


Math 5-6:
*The students are learning how to add, subtract, multiply, and divide decimals.


Math 7-8:
*The students are learning how to draw: line plots-   stem and leaf plots-  and box and whisker plots. They are also learning how to interpret the graphs in order to find measures of central tendency.

Language Arts:

*The students are beginning to work on writing Halloween essays.

*In reading, the students have just completed the book, The Giver. A new book will be started, soon.

*The students have completed beautiful posters about the parts of speech.


Math 5/6:

*5th and 6th grade students have been studying Mixed Numbers.

*The next topic will involve decimals.


Math 7/8:

*The students are currently learning about scatter plots.

*The next topic will be determining measures of central tendency.

Language Arts:

In writing class, the students are preparing a MyAccess essay about a person that they respect.

The book, The Giver, is coming to an end. The students have written predictions about how they think the story will end.


5th/6th Math:

At this time, the students are learning how to add, subtract, multiply, and divide mixed numbers.

Next week, the students will begin learning about decimals.



7th/8th Math:

Recently the students have been working with functions. They are learning how to determine rules-complete tables-and graph the functions.

Next week, the students will be working on a variety of charts-tables-and graphs.
